Attention: Beauty Junkies!

Hey, Olives!

I promise not to ramble too much before jumping into today’s blog post!

I’m a total beauty junky…. So naturally, I spend most of my Fridays off usually perusing the isles at Ulta or binge watching makeup videos on Youtube. You could say I’m obsessed!

The blogosphere is saturated with makeup and beauty blogs, yet, I still find it difficult to find good product suggestions for light to neutral skin with olive undertones.

Who’s with me?

Okay…. probably just my mother, and maybe a few other women I share my DNA with!

But, nonetheless, I have found a couple products recently that I’m currently loving, AND actually bode well with my olive skin! Since I have yet to discover an arsenal of the perfect products for olive skin, I thought I’d also include products I currently love!

It’s only fair to give a little disclaimer here; most of the products featured are pretty pricey….ughh!  Sorry to be that girl. I’m on a pretty strict budget… like an Excel-Spreadsheet-kind-of-strict-budget, so I was a pretty lucky girl to be gifted the majority of these products for my birthday, Christmas, and graduation!

I have quite a few (Eight!) products to talk about, so feel free to skip those you aren’t interested in or may not apply to your skin type! This is a long post…put your feet up, grab a snack, and enjoy!

Let’s jump right in!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation | $39.00 | Ulta | Dare I say it? Holy-grail-ride-or-die-stranded-on-a-deserted-island foundation! It’s that good. I should probably tell you that I have dry skin that’s almost oil free so if your skin tends to be oily you may not like this foundation. It contains coconut water so it’s moisturizing, without over hydrating your skin. I always apply this foundation after moisturizing then priming my skin and it makes for a perfect combination to hide my dry patches! It’s medium-to-full coverage, and it does take me 2.5-3 pumps to do my full face and cover my rosy cheeks. I could go on and on but I’ll stop there! Check it out, it’s PERFECT for lighter shades of olive skin!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer | $24.00 | Ulta | I won’t say too much about this concealer other than it’s great! It’s taken the makeup world by storm and I can see why! So many reviews have been done on this product already, so I had to pick one up the other day at Ulta! It’s an Ulta exclusive and they are always sold out, so make sure to call your store ahead of time to see if they have any in stock! It’s creamy, gives great coverage and lasts all day! Definitely worth the money!

Matrix Biolage Shampoo and Conditioner | $18.00 | Ulta | I wish I could take credit for my love affair with this (expensive) shampoo & conditioner but, growing up, this was always in the shower, thanks to my wonderful mother. I’ve loved this shampoo and conditioner for literally forever! It smells great, and since Ulta had a big sale about a month ago, I decided to stockpile some while they were buy two get one free!

Aveda Rosemary and Mint Shampoo and Conditioner | $13.50 | Aveda | The best part about getting your hair cut and colored at an Aveda salon is the amazing smelling products they use! Seriously, if it was kosher to just hang out and smell around the salon all day, I totally would. It smells like…well rosemary and mint… and makes me want to spend an extra 20 minutes in the shower on a sensory expedition. Am I getting carried away here? It’s hydrating, doesn’t strip your hair of essential oils and preserves the life of your color! Shout out to my sweet boyfriend for picking me up some for Christmas! Thanks, babe!

Farmacy Skin Dew Setting Mist | $44.00 | Sephora | I received a Sephora gift card for my birthday from my handsome boyfriend and while perusing the Sephora in Brookfield I stumbled on the Farmacy skincare brand and decided to try it out. It’s super hydrating under your makeup or on days you decide to go bare faced and its even better as a setting spray! It’s lightly scented, goes a long way, (although I’m guilty of using at least four-six sprays) and makes your makeup last all day! I would repurchase this product! Have you tried any of their products?

Too Faced Melted Matte in Child Star | $21.00 | Ulta | My sweet friend, Hannah Farajpanahi (try saying that last name!), picked this one up for me for my 23rd birthday, and girl…. she knows how to pick a good shade! It’s a creamy, yet soft, liquid lipstick in a  blush mauve-y nude shade!

The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes in Adoring | $17.00 | Balm Cosmetics | My boyfriend’s mom picked up the next two lippies for me! So sweet! Adoring is a medium shade of red with pink undertones making it a softer and brighter shade perfect for baseball games and summer adventures! It’s a liquid lipstick that lasts a long time, but, is tough to get off, so make sure you throw a makeup wipe in your purse!

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in Pink Punch | $4.99 | Target | Soap & Glory is a new brand for me, so I was very excited after trying it out! Pink Punch is a medium pink shade that’s perfect for the warmer weather that is coming! It’s a lip crayon that applies easily, doesn’t dry out your lips and is perfect to wear alone or to pair with a gloss!

I swatched the three shades on my arm and I’ll insert the photo below! I’m not sure why this is a “thing,” because to be honest, my arm looks funny and I was left with a red itchy spot for the rest of the day! Ha!

  1. Thank you for sharing some of your favorite products. Considering I am in the same gene pool, it’s like having a personal shopper! 🙂 You mentioned one Aveda product…. I would highly recommend another hair product, Aveda light elements smoothing fluid. It’s a must have for those random “fly aways”. The added bonus is extra shine, moisture rich locks.
